The topic for todays bog post is ‘Mind over Matter’. Now what does this mean? To me it means having the mental strength to overcome something in one’s life. This could be emotionally or physically, and I usually use this method in the gym to overcome feeling weak or tired.

So thats what I would like to talk about today – having the mental strength to reach your goals. I’m basically giving myself a lecture here 😛 but I hope it can help anyone else who is going through a slump… just like me!


Lets be honest, we don’t always feel like going to gym. Sometimes we just want to sit in front of the tv, or read a book! I know how that feels, but I also know how good and accomplished I feel after I’ve killed my workout. On days that I feel weak or tired, I take it down a notch, maybe I’ll do lighter weights or have a yoga session instead of my planned session. But the main goal is to DO SOMETHING. Do something that your future self will thank you for. Some of the things I do to get motivated to workout are listen to music, have coffee or call a gym buddy to come with me. Whatever you do, make sure you are doing something positive and pro-active to feel better.

Do you have the mental strength to push through the bad times? The body can do so much more than the mind lets on, and its time that we take control of that power 😀

Here are five steps to having better mental strength:

  1. Become aware of your emotions – keep them in check.
  2. Believe in yourself! If you don’t, then who else will?
  3. If you can’t control a situation – let it be.
  4. Accept help when you need it. You can’t do everything by yourself!
  5. And finally, do something you love everyday.
