After a much needed break from the blogging world, I am back in full force! 😛 I’ve had to take some time to think about myself for a while, and I have a very exciting new goal that I have set for myself. But enough about me, lets talk sports massage 😀 I am currently doing a Sports Massage course so I thought I’d share some of the information that I have learnt so far.
What exactly is sports massage? Well, it is soft tissue massaging that targets the muscles to help repair and recover athletes muscles from over use, soreness/stiffness or injury prevention. Although it is named “sport massage” it is recommended for everyone to get one every once in a while. You may be thinking ‘why would you need a sports massage if you are not an athlete?’. However if you are someone who is standing all day at work, or sitting all day at work, be it in the car or at a desk, your body is still taking strain – especially the lower back – which is where most complaints of soreness come from.
For athletes, this is a very important step for pre-game and post-game purposes. This is because sports massaging wakes up the muscles and in turn improves the performance of the athlete, it also drains the muscles from toxins and prevents possible injuries that could occur. For everyday people, sports massages also help prevent possible injuries from happening, awakens the muscles for everyday living and helps with toxin draining as well as brings blood to the surface of the skin which can reduce cellulite if done regularly.
Sports massages are not like any normal massage, they target the muscles and can really help your body in the long run.
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are ready for a new week!
