Another week, another month! This year really is flying by ! I hope you are all reaching your goals this year, remember that only you can make it happen 🙂

I am going to share a clean, green smoothie recipe with you this morning 😛  This may not sound very appetising I know 😉 but TRUST me it is way more delicious than it looks 😀

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset  The ingredients you will need are:

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 piece of ginger
  • 1 small lemon

Juice the above ingredients together.

  • 4 leaves of swiss chard spinach (the big leaves)
  • 1 handful of baby spinach
  • 1/2 a small pineapple
  • 1 green (golden delicious) apple
  • 10 almonds (raw)
  • 1/2 cup of raw oats
  • 1/4 green melon
  • 5 ice-cubes
  • 1 scoop of protein powder of choice

Blend all the above ingredients in a blender and add the juiced ingredients. Serve straight away for a power breakfast smoothie! 😀

The benefits of green smoothies, or any healthy smoothies, are endless. For one, you get all the nutrients at once, and blending the ingredients, rather than juicing them, means that the sugars and nutrition is released into the system slowly. If you juice all the ingredients, you lose out on the nutrients provided by the skins of the fruits and vegetables, which have a lot of vitamins and minerals in them, as well as roughage which is good for your digestive system!
